Criando um virtualhost com proxy reverso

Adicione a biblioteca e habilite os módulos

sudo apt-get install libapache2-mod-proxy-html
sudo a2enmod proxy proxy_http proxy_connect proxy_html xml2enc

Reinicie

sudo service apache2 restart

Adicione um novo arquivo de virtualhost

/etc/apache2/sites-available/site-proxy.conf

<VirtualHost *:80>
    ServerAdmin hostmaster@example.com
    ProxyRequests off
    DocumentRoot /var/www
    ProxyPreserveHost On

    # define a url usada no ambiente de produção
    ServerName example.com

    # se mais de uma url for usada,
    # adicione uma por linha aqui
    ServerAlias www.example.com

    ErrorLog ${APACHE_LOG_DIR}/error.log
    CustomLog ${APACHE_LOG_DIR}/access.log combined

    # valores possíveis: debug, info, notice, warn, error, crit,
    # alert, emerg.
    LogLevel error

    <Location />
        # url do site a ser acessado
        ProxyPass http://internal.example.com:8444/
        ProxyPassReverse http://internal.example.com:8444/
        Order allow,deny
        Allow from all
    </Location>
</VirtualHost>

Adicione esse virtualhost ao Apache

sudo a2ensite site-proxy

Reinicie o Apache (novamente)

sudo service apache2 restart
